I'm done

Breast feeding that is. I officially stopped a few days after Taegen turned one. I've been slowly dropping meals for a month now and I'd DEFINITELY recommend doing it that way if at all possible. I didn't get engorged or have any pain. Which was SOOOOO nice. But let me tell you, I don't quite now how I feel about it now. (the fact that I'm no longer nursing, not the fact that I didn't have any pain...silly).

Nursing was such a great way to help me get in some good one on one time with Taegen and to make sure that he felt he was getting enough of my attention. Since I'm working part time, I'm constantly feeling he isn't getting enough mommy time. This has been one of the toughest things about leaving him at a sitters.

I do not miss the fact that I HAD to be the one to put T in bed since Jon couldn't exactly nurse him before hand. And it's been nice not having the stress of making sure I'm getting enough water/food. But man did that make meal time so much easier! Ever since I've stopped, he's turned into the pickiest eater. He use to eat just about anything.
NO ANYMORE!!!!

It's driving me crazy. I'll make something for dinner, and he won't touch it. He has to like it the minute it hits his tongue or theres no use even trying. He use warm up to things. He'd think he didn't like it, but would try it again and realize that it wasn't as bad as he thought. Boy have things changed. I'm having a hard time coming up with things that he'll eat. I think he's too young to understand the concept of "you eat what mom made for dinner or you don't eat at all", and I don't want him to starve but I absolutely hate wasting food too.

When I was nursing, I couldn't wait for it to be over. Now that it is, I wish I still was. Grass is always greener on the other side right?! Ok, I wouldn't say that I really wish that I still was, I just miss the convenience of it. But I will say this. I'm glad I nursed for a full year, and even though its rough it's worth it. And is something I will do with all of my future kids as well.

Birthday Party

We had such a special day. We had Jon's endowment session that morning, followed by lunch, then the birthday party. We figured we'd just do it all in one day. I didn't get any pictures of everyone that came to the temple or to lunch to support Jon, but we had a good little crowd. Thanks so much to everyone!

The night before I had lots of baking/decorating to do. I made Taegen's cake plus 48 cupcakes. It took me about 4 1/2 hours to get them all finished. They were super cute though.

Taegen got a lot of presents, and he loves them all. Grandma got him big legos and he LOVES them. Except you can't build anything with him because he immediately starts tearing it down. I think thats his favorite part. We spent a good 30 minutes doing just that the other day.
He got a dancing monkey and he couldn't keep his eyes off it. That was one of the first presents we opened and he kept looking around for the monkey. (we eventually had to hide it because he was showing no interest in anything else).

don't mind my hideous face in this one.

He started dancing to the music (which is an annoying Pit Bull song). I tried to record him dancing, but I never got a good one. But it was really cute.

CAKE TIME...
singing happy birthday

He went straight for the cookies on top. First the chocolate chip ones...

then the oreo. He LOVES oreos.
We had to take off all the cookies and hide them for him to even be remotely interested in the cake.

He ate the cake little piece by little piece. He didn't dig all the way in, he'd just grab what he could, eat that, then go in for more. Totally calm
I'm done! He's pushing away the cake.

The cake after...not so cute anymore
I know when he's done with something because he'll start to try to clean off his tray.
He normally picks things up and drops them off the side, this time he just started wiping his hands all over the tray to get all the crumbs off.
He's such a stud!
Taeg LOVES chocolate, so he obviously had a great time....
can't you tell?!

After the party we went back to grandma and grandpas house and had a little fun playin in the rocks.

Bath time...

All in all, we had a wonderful day!

Progress of walking

don't mind my messy house in these videos. Sometimes with a kid, it's just not worth cleaning while they're awake. haha

My baby is ONE!

Happy 1st birthday monkey!!
(picture overlload)

I wanted to document what we did all day (thats why this post is a day late). I can't believe he's already one. :)

Breakfast time, well actually the pre breakfast,
I wanted him happy for the pics so i had to give him so puffs.

He sure does love his food. :)

He's so funny. he will not walk in this walker. He could never quite figure out how to move forward, but he sure does love playing with it while it's locked in the down position.

I'm getting pretty good at walking. I'm still a little wobbly, but I'm learning real quick.

He didn't want to wear this shirt today. The minute I put it on him this is what he did.

Tearing the bookshelf apart is one of his favorite things to do....hence the mess

Banging on the heater is another favorite.

he won't sit in this anymore, but he still loves all the toys. He'll walk around it to play with them.
Great multi-tasker...eating and playing at the same time.

We went to the park with Kristel, Evie, and O'Livia. He's finally ok with playing on the grass.
Here he is, eating anything he can get his hands on.

 Eating...yet again.

Playing with Lou-lou...they were trying to switch binkies.

He concentrating so hard to keep the binky in his mouth.
It kept falling out since it was attached to her shirt.

 Playing with Evie's shoes

He passed out the minute we got in the car. He was so exhausted.

We went out to dinner to celebrate the big day.
He enjoyed the crackers and fries, us on the other hand had a TERRIBLE meal.

All in all, we had a good fun day. I was able to take the day off to spend it with him. We're having the party on saturday, so I'll post pics of that soon. I'm making him wait to open his presents until then. I'm such a mean mom :)

Update on what he's doing lately...
-he's finally picked up on walking. He's been able to do it for some time now, but he's finally getting good. (videos to come soon) he's still pretty wobbly, and tries to go faster than his little legs will carry him. It's cute.
-He's becoming a really picky eater. He won't eat baby food unless I fed it to him with an adult spoon. No more baby spoons for him. He doesn't like cheese or any type of noodle.
-He tugs at his ears, even though theres nothing wrong. He just likes to play with his ears.
-He empties out every bag thats in his reach, my purse, the diaper bag, grocery bags, wipies etc.
-He's a MAJOR busy body. He's always getting into everything! He loves to explore. Yesterday at the park, he was all over the place. Had to see everything.
-Still puts everything in his mouth. His white shirt yesterday had mud all over it from the dirt at the park.
-He's getting his 2nd molar. So he now had 10 teeth. 8 in front -  4 top and bottom and 1 molar top and bottom on the right side.
-He loves to play tag with dad. They'll crawl around the house after each other.... it's so cute.
-He's sleeping better. Some days he'll sleep through the night, others he'll wake up once, and just need me to give him his binky and he'll fall right back to sleep. I don't know why he'll sleep through the night on some nights and not others, but he's getting real close to being consistent....can't wait!
-He will dance in the car if we have music playing. Mostly only if I'm dancing with him. He looks like he's leading music.
-He loves books. He doesn't quite have the attention span to read them with me yet (even though i still try every night) But he loves to look at the pictures and turn the pages.

I think that's it for now...or atleast all I can think of.

Love you Taeg,
Love mom and dad
