Family Pics

I finally got the pics of my family pictures back in April. Some of them are really similar, but it was so windy that we only got a few good shots. I think I decided that I'm going to take more pics of us for our 1 year anniversary tho.

Update

I figured it was time for an actual update. Not much has happened. Jon's been working a lot. Actually I feel like I haven't even had much of a husband this past week. But I guess I can't really complain. I would much rather have him love to work and be gone at work, then out playing all the time.
I've been hanging out with 2 of my sisters a lot lately, Kristel and Stephanie. Both of their husbands work at DRA with Jon. So we're all husbandless at the same time :) But other than that, I've just been reading and dancing. I'm loving going to the dance class. It's great excercise and helps me get out, instead of just lounging around.
Jon's loving living at the ranch. It's a little far out there for me, but he loves it so I'm ok with it for now. I def don't think I could do it forever. All in all things are going good. Nothing too interesting tho :)

Newest Addition

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for my sil Delecta and her husband Daryl. They welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Berkley into the family last night (well technically it was this morning). Mom and baby are both doing great. I didn't take any pics cuz Zeffie had that end covered, but I'll be sure to post some pics when I get them from her.

K.I.S.S.

Does this make any sense to you?...

Me neither, or at least not yet anyways. I just got the papers for the program my mom used when she was in Denmark learning Danish (K.I.S.S. Kobenhavn's Intensive sprog skole. translation please...Copenhagen's Intensive Language School). This is apparently the best one to use. So, I figured its about time I relearn my first language. I'm SO excited!!

And this is the next book I decided to read. It's actually based on my dad's life. He is Michael Christensen (the main character). Tim Anderson got the idea for this book from my dads job. It's really interesting to read it and have insight into a part of my parents life that I was too young to remember or understand. I'm not in the book, but there is reference to the 5 girls :)
It is a little hard to understand at times since part of it is based in Russia, but still really good.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day came and went. And as you can imagine, it is a rather hard time for my family, it's a rather emotional day. It's been 2 1/2 years since my dear mother passed away and I still have a hard time believing she's no longer here with us. Living without my mom has been very difficult. In fact, I'd say losing her has been the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. She was such an amazing mother, sister, daughter, wife and friend. She wasn't just my mother, but one of my best friends. One of the hardest things for me is not being able to call her and tell her about my day, good or bad. She was always so understanding and had wonderful words of wisdom to give. She was always willing to lend a shoulder to cry on, give you a hug when times were tough, or laugh with you when you needed a friend.

Shortly after she passed away me and my siblings were given this poem. I don't remember who gave it to us, but I'm pretty sure it was one of my relatives. But I keep this up in my house and every time I read it, it gives me such comfort.

We little knew that morning

that God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly.

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone,

for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.

Your love is still our guide.

And though we cannot see you,

you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken

and nothing seems the same,

but as God calls us one by one,

the Chain will link again.

My mother was the perfect example to me. Not only in how to raise my future children, but also in how to be a good wife. My dad was completly spoiled (in a good way). But it's not because he made her do any of the things she did (packed his suitcase before vacations, woke up early to make him his freshly squeezed juice each morning, made sure lunch was ready for him when he came home for a lunch break, made sure he had a never ending supply of washed and folded socks in his sock drawer, the list goes on and on) she did it all because it was her way of showing him she loved him. She wanted to do them. I don't know if I'll ever be as good as a wife/mother as she was (sorry Jon :) ) But I know that her example to me and my siblings has made a world of a difference. I know she's smiling down on me and my family each day. Watching over us and guiding us.

It may have been a car accident that took her away from us, but it was no accident. The Lord needed her on the other side, helping him with his work. I know she's busy doing missionary work. I know she's happy and patiently waiting for us to join her. I feel her love around me every day and know that she's proud of me. Mom, I'll love you forever and miss you for always.

We've offically moved out of our house and up to the ranch. Heres the view from our back porch. Jealous?...that's what I thought. It's absolutely beautiful up there.




And this here is Jon's new favorite toy. Ok, well it's not actually his but he's loving getting to use it. Moving this rock was the task on hand yesterday.

Life.

Those of you that know me really well know that I love to read. This has been my latest addiction...
For those of you that haven't read them, I would definitely recommend them. They aren't normally my type of book, but I love them. But beware, they do arise quite a bit of emotions. Especially since we all know life's not perfect and we've all had our fair share of trials and hardships to overcome.

Ok so other than reading, what have I been doing you may ask. Well other than watching Grey's Anatomy :) I started taking a hip hop dance class from Premier Dance Center. I love being active again especially since it's dancing. It's a great way to get some exercise and it's not too stressfull or demanding.
Oh and just last week I went to a golf tournament through my work. No, I didn't golf are you kidding, I suck at golfing! So my job was to sit at a booth on the 2nd hole and hand out water and take a picture of all the golfers that came by. It wasn't too bad, especially since afterwards I won a golf club that I later sold to one of the golfers.. free money baby! Anyways as you all know, golf is a very slow moving sport, so we had a little time on our hands. here's a pic of me while just goofing off on the green.

Well not much other than that has gone on. Oh other than family pictures that I've been trying to get my hands on for the past month. But I'll post them as soon as I can get my sis to actually give them to me.

10 PM bed time...I think not

We normally go to be pretty early since Jon has to get up for work at 5. But we decided to actually do something with our lives instead of sleep :) We got together with some friends from high school that I hadn't seen in a while. It turned out great. I was told that I'm now inducted into the widowed wife club. The husbands all get together and do all sorts of crazy stuff, while the wife's are left behind :( haha no, we have our own girls' night out. Here's some pics of the evening.

This past weekend Jon and I both decided to dye our hair. My change isn't near as drastic (and the picture is terrible) but was mainly doing it to get rid of the re-growth. But Jon's was quite the opposite. Just imagine a top hat on him and he looks like Abe Lincoln. haha
