The one on how Jon's doing

I figured I'd do an update on Jon, since he doesn't like to brag about himself. I'll do it for him.

He is doing really good. He was really nervous about starting. Everyone told him how hard the school was so he was really skeptical about how he'd do. He has now completed the first course and he passed the course with flying colors! He actually ended up being 3rd in his class! The first course was fairly "simple". It was a little overwhelming at first. They cram a lot of information into such a short period of time. But once he got into the swing of things, it wasn't that bad. The information itself was fairly easy.

He's now in the second course and it's a little bit more difficult. He's starting to worry a little bit about it. Not that he won't understand the concept, but because they word the questions/information in such a weird way that it makes it hard. The first 2 and part of the 3rd course are only theory. No hands on work. Which makes for a really long day. He gets up at 3:45, leaves the house around 4:15 and he has formation at 4:45. They do PT for 2 hours then give them time to shower and eat, then class starts at 7:30 and he doesn't get done with class till 5. Some days he has formation after class so he doesn't get home till 5:30-6. He gets a hour for lunch and two 30 minute breaks, one before and one after lunch. He tries to get his homework done during his lunch hour, but if he doesn't finish it all he has to do it once he gets home. And since he gets up so early he gets in the shower at 8:30 and is in bed by 9 or earlier. So he gets a couple hours with us at night (if he's lucky) and thats it. He gets saturdays and sundays off, which is a much needed break. 

There are 12 courses, each of which are 17 days long. He should finish the whole thing in January. If he gets lower than a 70 on any test he gets once chance to re-take it and if he fails, they send him home. He gets 3 chances. If he fails the test on the first time, no matter if he passes the re-take, they'll send him home. If he misses 8 consecutive hours, he gets sent home. They're really strict. There have already been a couple times he should have gone to the doc and he is unable to. He is required to go to a doc on base, which means he would have to miss school to go. And if he misses any, he'll get so far behind that he wouldn't be able to catch up. Like I said, they give out so much information each day. 

It really is rather hard. He comes home every day both physically and mentally drained. His ADHD is making it really hard for him to focus through out class, but he's seemed to manage so far.

The lowest test score he's gotten so far is an 85, so really he is doing excellent. Ask him, and he probably wouldn't saw the same thing, but as his wife I get to brag a little big :) 

I'm so proud of him! He has adjusted to this crazy schedule and he hardly ever complains. He's almost always tired, but yet still plays with and helps out with the kids. Man do I love that man! Keep him in your prayers that he'll continue to do good and be able to handle the work load and understand the material. (As I'm sure it gets harder as he gets farther along).
